WW2 70th Anniversary Commemorations
The Minister of Veterans’ Affairs, the Honourable Judith Collins, is leading work on a cabinet paper detailing how the Government marks major World War Two 70th anniversary commemorations, and what can be done to help veterans attend them.
The Minister is consulting with the Ministers of Defence, Culture and Heritage, and Foreign Affairs in preparing the paper.
The first step is to hear from veterans about what commemorations they would like to attend and what assistance they would like from the Government. Given that many World War Two veterans are now in their 90s, it is vital that these events are well planned and well managed, and that there is plenty of support available.
All veterans, or groups representing veterans, looking to attend 70th anniversary commemorations, in New Zealand or overseas, are invited to register their interest with:
