Costs of Ex-Service Memorials
The subsidised cost of memorials varies depending on which type is ordered.
Bronze Memorial Plaques
The Bronze Plaque is the most widely used memorial. It measures 37 x 22 cm and is made as a single or double memorial. The cost of a single or double Bronze Plaque is $210. Bronze strip markers can be provided for older terrazzo headstones, with bronze inserts, to add a spouse' name, date of death and age. These bronze strip markers cost $45.00.
Granite Memorial Plaques
The Granite Plaques can be made either rectangular for burials (36 x 22 cm), or square for cremations (26 x 22 cm). While granite plaques are used primarily in the Rotorua Services Cemetery, as the atmosphere has a corrosive effect on bronze plaques, they can also be used in other public cemeteries. The layout is the same as that of the bronze plaque. The cost of a Granite Plaque is $270.
The Granite Headstone measures 76 x 38 x 7.5 cm and contains the same information as a plaque but in a slightly different layout. The cost of a granite headstone is $500. Granite additions to add a spouse's details to granite headstones are also available. These measure (35 x 8 cm). These granite additions cost $135.
