Guide for Applicants

Thank you for your interest in working for NZDF.  This Guide is designed to assist you with your application and give you some information about the recruitment process.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand and be able to obtain and maintain the required NZDF security clearance. Where a security clearance is required for the role, applicants must be a New Zealand citizen, or have resided in New Zealand for a minimum of 5 years, or have been citizens of the UK, Canada, Australia or the USA for 10 years or more.  If you cannot meet these requirements we may not respond to your application.

How to Apply

Please forward the following:

  • Completed Application for Employment Form. You are able to apply online or alternatively application documents are available at the bottom of this page which you will need to print off and post to the address shown on the advert;
  • A covering letter outlining your suitability for the job. This should address the knowledge, skills experience, competencies and other requirements contained in the job description;
  • A copy of your CV;
  • Completed Applicant Statistical Information Form (optional).

Your application will be acknowledged by mail or email.

Note: For ease of processing and photocopying, please do not provide CVs and applications bound, or in folders.   A copy (not the original) of your CV is requested, as CVs are not returned following completion of the recruitment process.

Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Your CV should contain the following:

  • Full employment history (most recent position first);
  • Education, training and qualifications which are relevant to the position;
  • Any other relevant information and details of experience.

Application Documents

If you require the job application files in a different format please contact us to request a printed copy by mail.
