    The support you may be able to get depends on your circumstances.
    Currently serving
    While serving, the NZDF will take care of your health and wellbeing issues. If you have qualifying service, we may be able to provide you with home help. Register now with Veterans’ Affairs, and when you need some support, we’ll be ready to help you.
    Ex-serving
    We can provide you with health, rehabilitation and financial support if you have a condition related to your service. We can also provide home help assistance and financial support for you to commemorate your service.
    Family and whānau
    How we can support you, your family and whānau.
    Non-military personnel
    Non-military personnel can have Qualifying Operational Service in certain circumstances.

    We're proud to honour the service of the veteran community.
    Services Cemeteries and plaques and headstones
    We help look after Services Cemeteries. We're also able to contribute towards plaques and headstones.
    Commemorative funding
    There are two types of financial contributions available from the Commemorative Fund.
    Medals and service records
    The NZ Defence Force's Personnel Archives and Medals team ​administer medals and hold most New Zealand military service records.
    ​When someone dies
    We may be able to provide support when someone who had Qualifying Service dies.
    Your family's military history
    Learning more about your family's military history is a great way to honour their service.
    Certificate of Appreciation and Veterans' Pins
    The Certificate of Appreciation and Veteran's Pin recognise operational service.
    NZ Post Stamps
    This series of stamps explores the stories of 6 veterans deployed after 1995. You can purchase the stamps on the NZ Post website.

Force 4 Families education and training discounts

Which education providers are offering discounts for veterans?

Auldhouse 

Auldhouse is a leading IT Training provider located in Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch. Auldhouse provides training both online or at one of their training centres across New Zealand Auldhouse provide veterans with a 20% discount off Microsoft Office training, Adobe, and Apple software courses. The discount is applied by showing the Force 4 Families code to your Auldhouse retailer.

Massey University 

Massey University has campuses in Palmerston North, Auckland, Wellington and leads in the provision of distance learning. They provide veterans with a 30% discount off domestic tuition fees and the Student Services Levy. Massey’s Academic Advisers and Student Recruitment Advisers can assist you choose your qualification, check your eligibility, and plan your study. The discount is applied differently if you are a new or returning student.

New students: Enrol online and follow the Force 4 Families ‘self-funding’ instructions. 

Returning students: Submit your study application and email studentadminfees@massey.ac.nz with the following details:

  • your student ID number
  • Force 4 Families discount code 
  • your service number.

Open Polytechnic 

The Open Polytech is New Zealand’s leading distance and online learning provider and provides veterans with a 50% discount off their standard tuition fees. The discount is applied by entering the F4F code when enrolling (online) for study.

UCOL – Universal College of Learning

UCOL has campuses in Palmerston North, Whanganui, Wairarapa, and Horowhenua. They provide veterans with a 33.3% discount off standard tuition fees and 50% off their Student Services Levy for veterans. The discount is applied by showing the F4F code when enrolling for study with your enrolment form.

Are my family members able to receive the discount?

The education discount is only available to veterans who have served in the New Zealand Defence Force.

Who do I contact to discuss my study options?

Each education provider has information available on their website. They have helpful staff and study advisors who can answer any questions that you have.

My education provider has not applied the discount, what do I do?

Check the invoice for a phone number and make contact with the provider to ask them to apply the discount.

I have done all the above and can’t access the discount. Can NZDF assist?
