Changes to the list of Statements of Principles, June 2018

On 29 June changes will be made to the list of Australian Statements of Principles that apply in New Zealand. The Statements of Principles are a tool to determine if an injury, illness or death is service-related.

Statements of Principles

The Veterans’ Support Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2018 will bring into force 6 new, and 34 replacement, Statements of Principles.

These Statements of Principles cover:

  • accidental hypothermia
  • cerebral meningioma
  • chilblains
  • frostbite
  • Guillain-Barre Syndrome
  • hepatitis C
  • immune thrombocytopaenia (previously called immune thrombocytopaenic purpura)
  • malignant neoplasm of the ovary
  • malignant neoplasm of eye
  • malignant neoplasm of the cerebral meninges
  • migraine
  • non-freezing cold injury (previously called immersion foot)
  • osteoarthritis
  • personality disorder
  • popliteal cyst
  • substance use disorder
  • systemic sclerosis
  • toxic retinopathy (previously called toxic maculopathy)
  • ulnar neuropathy at the elbow
  • Zika virus infection.
