Support if you served in Viet Nam
You may be able to get extra support on top of entitlements that are already offered for Qualifying Service if you served in Viet Nam.
You may be able to get support if you have Qualifying Operational Service in Viet Nam between 29 May 1964 and 31 December 1972.
Ex gratia payment
You may qualify for an ex gratia payment of NZD$40,000. You would need to be diagnosed by an appropriately qualified medical professional to have at least one of:
- soft tissue sarcoma
- Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
- Hodgkin's disease
- chronic lymphocytic leukaemia—including hairy-cell leukaemia and other chronic b-cell leukaemias
- Monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS)

Your spouse, partner or children may also be entitled to an ex gratia payment or other support.
Annual medical assessment
You can get a free yearly check-up with your medical practitioner. You must be registered with us to get this.

You may be able to get funding from the Viet Nam Veterans & Families Trust. This trust aims to help those most in need in the Viet Nam veteran community.
