Register with Veterans' Affairs

Register with Veterans' Affairs

This form can be completed by a veteran themself or by someone on their behalf. Throughout the form, 'you' refers to the veteran that is being registered.

Before you start

  • You are not immediately registered when you submit this form. We need to confirm your Qualifying Service before we accept your registration.
  • If your registration is successful, it does not mean that your future claims for support will be accepted. All claims are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
  • If you require urgent help now, there are resources you can access without waiting for confirmation.

Why register with Veterans' Affairs?

People often contact us for the first time when they want or need to apply for support. However, you don't need to wait. Even if you're well, you can register now so that support is there when you need it.

If you have Qualifying Service, you may be eligible for a range of support options.

Learn about the support options available

When you register, you can also sign-up for newsletters to keep you informed. You can learn about what's available to you, and read about reunions, projects, and experiences of others in the veteran community.

How long will the registration form take to complete?

Allow 5 to 10 minutes to complete the form.

We'll ask for some basic information about:

  • your personal identity
  • your service history
  • how to contact you.

You don't need to provide personal identification like a passport or driver license.

What happens once I've registered?

We'll contact you to confirm whether your registration was successful or not. We may ask for more information.

It may take us a few weeks to process your application.

Once we've let you know that your registration was successful, you can access our support options.
